I was painting my Elements In Stained Glass series when the news broke of the BP Gulf Oil Spill and this is what happened. My thoughts are of the disastrous pollution created by our dependance on petroleum. Not just for fuel, but for plastics and all sorts of manufacturing. Oil leaks out of a hole in the Earth on one side of the planet and races across the oceans to every part of the planet. Our best current solutions, solar and wind, have not broken us free of petroleum for transportation. Our best bet... nuclear fusion. NOT our current fission models... which create hazardous waste and potential dangers of all sorts. But... all-natural fusion, which leaves no radioactive by-products and creates exponentially more power. |
